Lamborghini is among the most sustainable companies in Italy, their environmental policy is an integral part of its business strategy. Based on a holistic vision and comprehensive approach encompassing the products, the Sant’Agata Bolognese site, production lines and offices.
The Environmental Sustainability Program started by Lamborghini in 2009 has given rise to numerous projects and led to important results. We can't wait to show you the projects that Lamborghini have been working on over the years.
Created in 2010, Lamborghini's photovoltaic system (solar panel system) enabled a reduction of 2,000 tons of CO2 per year.
The installation covers an area of 14,600 square meters and is the largest integrated photovoltaic system in the industrial sector in Emilia-Romagna, Italy.
The inauguration of the systems was an important step that Lamborghini was pursuing for some time and this was to go hand-in-hand with actual product development.
In 2016, the company launched an environmental bio-monitoring project with the installation of an apiary in the Lamborghini Park in Sant'Agata Bolognese.
Over the years the apiary has grown from a total of eight hives to the current twelve, with a population of about 600,000 bees of which 120,000 forage around the territory.
The Lamborghini apiary benefits from the presence of a “technological beehive”. Two video cameras, one inside and one outside the hive, make it possible to observe the behavior of the insects close up, providing more detailed data to the studies being conducted.
Thanks to the biomonitoring activity, every year 430 kg of honey are produced, which is distributed to employees as a Christmas gift.
In 2020, Lamborghini initiated the recovery of 56% of all the special waste produced by the production activity, thus preventing these materials from being sent to landfill or other disposal processes.
In addition, during the year the company launched two circular economy projects that have allowed it to give a second life to certain production waste materials that, instead of being disposed of, are exploited to become new resources with benefits for the environment and society.
The part of carbon fiber that can no longer be industrialized is reused for educational purposes or used internally and created into products such as souvenirs for guests.
The leather that does not pass quality controls and residual material that cannot be used due to its size or the presence of small natural defects, is given a new life by being transformed into small, customized leather goods.
Making its debut is the new “Direzione Cor Tauri”, the environmental sustainability route that will lead Lamborghini to the decarbonization of its future models
and the production site lead by Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann.
The focus of the proceed to electrify the products will be identifying technologies an solutions able to guarantee top performance and driving dynamics however always staying true to the heart and soul of the brand.
In 2023, the first hybrid model will be launched. This stage pursues the target of reducing the C02 emissions. What will guide the hybrid transition will be a ground-breaking investment: over 1.5 billion Euro allocated in four years, the biggest investment of Lamborghini's history.
